TRUMPETS OF FIRE

(Part IV)

"For Zion's sake I will not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as the lamp that burneth" (Is. 62:1).

Many ages have come and gone while the righteous ones of God waited for the fulfillment of these mighty words of promise. The long centuries have rolled on like the dark hours of an endless night. The tempo of death's call has embraced the masses, refusing to release its prey, and the foreboding drums beat on. It is obvious to any observant soul that the expanse of humanity is forever descending into an awful gulf as they obediently keep in step to the hypnotic cadence of this relentless march. The majority sleep on and are unwittingly oblivious to any other sound, especially the distant sound of trumpets. Fortunately, some are hearing this call, the call to awake. One by one, they are arousing and proceeding to that clear note, even as Jesus foretold in the days before His cross: "And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other" (Mt. 24:31).

In the midst of this present darkness, these messengers are sounding reveille. Their messages are bidding those who will Live to come alive and look up, for their redemption draweth nigh, and for some it is at hand. Their peering eyes are focusing upon the shining beacons of great hope that have appeared in their distant heavens. With jubilation they are rejoicing, for their weary souls are finally being enlightened with more than just hope. There is tremendous joy as our Lord progressively descends in His glorious words of deliverance, from the throne of God's highest heaven, and shining ever brighter, even as the Lamp that burneth in the dark night of man's ignorance. Most assuredly, "Unto the upright there ariseth light out of darkness" (Ps. 112:4).

At first they may have been mere words of promise which were only a tiny speck of light in the cold, ash-laden heavens, flickering every so faintly, but they have steadily grown with intensity as our attention was stayed upon them. Our expectation and perception have progressively increased, and now, our hearts are beginning to resound victoriously together -- prophetically sounding out praise and honor and glory to our reigning King. We are seeing evermore clearly what and who the Holy one of Israel is, and we are beginning to get a glimpse of what wondrous works He shall be performing in the earth. When we consider the immensity of God and the enormity of His plan for humanity, there is no way to fit it into a time-table. There may be an extended period of time, we cannot say, before we see the fulness of the drawing of the firstfruits and then the rest of creation unto the Light of Himself; but we are persuaded by what we see that the dawn of His unprecedented glory is now beginning to shine upon His people. In this shining He is segregating the night from the day. On one hand we are seeing separations, divisions, tearing down and spiritual darkness as it has never been; while on the other, we are witnessing the counter part. There is a true building up and strengthening of those who are Jesus Christ-minded. This excites us, for not only do we see the profane being separated from the Holy, but God's sovereign Kingdom is being brought together that His power and grand beauty may be seen by all. David said it this way: "When the Lord shall build up Zion, He shall appear in His glory" (Ps. 102:16). In another place it says: "...The Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken...I have set watchmen upon the walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth" (Is. 62:2-4,6-7).

Praise God for those persistent ones who have refused to keep silent, for they have stirred many and have given them much hope. Should we quietly listen, our own awakened spirits would hear the sound of rejoicing ascending from their lips, those who at one time lay desolate and seemingly forsaken. Where in the past there was darkness and mourning and the pouring out of their troubled souls, now comes the high sounding praise of thanksgiving. With all assurance of victory, they are void of compromise, and without a shadow of doubt, they know by the Spirit of expanding revelation that the great day of the Lord is at hand, and His wonderful Kingdom is in the process of being established in all the earth. Again we say, praise God, for He has truly put His Holy flame of uncompromising perseverance in the midst of His watchmen! And they shall never rest, day nor night, until we all see the full consummation of His Glory in every saint who has put his trust in the Living God!

Many welcome this austere and mighty Kingdom of God, radiating with splendor and grand glory, but few there are who savor what precedes this Kingdom of universal peace, i.e. FIRE. Those who genuinely worship God will be the first ones to partake of His Kingdom, for they will have been poured out upon the fiery alter of incense and consumed. The world in turn will then be subjected to the same fire. The fire that began at the house of God will then rain in generous quantities upon the whole world -- and those of the earth will not be left with a way of escape. Although John the Baptist said that Jesus would baptize in fire (Mt. 3:11), and Jesus made it clear that everyone would be salted with fire (Mk. 9:49), man's easy religion of escapism saturates most minds in the Laodicean church. Nevertheless, regardless of what men will devise in their own creative minds, they will never enter the Kingdom, the Paradise of God, without passing through the flaming sword of His posted cherubim. The truth of the matter is, brethren, we will fry before we fly.

"And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake. And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound. The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of the trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up. And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed. And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter" (Rev. 8:5-11).

We will not attempt to peer into the depths of what this prophecy of judgment upon the world entails nor try to expound in detail upon all the symbolic mysteries herein. The primary thought is to see the order of things for our present day and how this prophecy applies to things as a whole.

Most Bible versed Christians are somewhat familiar with the prophecies of the Bible, and we all expect the unfulfilled ones to be fulfilled someday, and they will be. However, we may be hard pressed to find many who believe God still tells His people what His impending plans are. Let us then be reminded of a declaration made by the prophet, Amos: "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but HE REVEALETH HIS SECRET UNTO HIS SERVANTS, THE PROPHETS" (Amos 3:7). However, there may not be many who realize that God still reveals His secrets to His servants, the prophets, before He brings them forth for all to see.

Although the apostle John prophetically penned the Lord's words concerning His refining fires of judgment, we cannot say it stops there; for it has been His custom to raise up various ones in each generation to speak to the people prior to executing His corrective acts. Therefore, before He scatters the fire from the altar over the face of the earth in this present age, we see Him as usual revealing His intentions to His sons of service. They in turn declare to the people of His impending plans. This is so that when the fire, the pestilence, the plague, the lion or bear comes they will be left without an excuse; or else, they can repent and be spared. The city of Nineveh repented and was spared after Jonah prophesied destruction upon them. In like manner as that infamous city of antiquity was warned, God is in the process of telling the church and the world what to expect. Some of His own have already repented and come up and out of the fire, while judgment is still working in others, and it will be sometime later for the remainder.

These warnings have not been few nor isolated. From every quadrant of the earth the night watchmen have been sounding warnings for at least three years -- and now the trumpet blasts are almost deafening. Of course, we have always had "doomsday prophets" with us who have been as the little boy who was always crying "wolf." Discounting these perpetual distractions that have always been with us, it is clear that there have been many prophecies which are authentic. We would like to mention them all in this short writing, but there is only space enough to touch upon one.

The one that has attracted our attention and harmonizes with the cords of our spirit came over three years ago to David Minor (Longview, Washington) in April of 1987. The symbol used in it is wind rather than fire, but it still speaks of the same thing. This prophecy has been printed in such a wide variety of literature that there are many in the church who have already read or heard about it. If they have not heard this particular prophecy, they have no doubt heard others very similar in content. If nothing like this has yet crossed the threshold of their ears, their eyes, or their minds, such prophetic utterances will surely find their way to them soon:

"The Spirit of God would say to you that the wind of the Holy Spirit is blowing through the land. The church, however, is incapable of fully recognizing this Wind. Just as your nation has given names to its hurricanes, so I have put My Name on this Wind. This Wind shall be named, `Holiness unto the Lord.'

"Because of a lack of understanding, some of My people will try to find shelter from the Wind, but in so doing they shall miss My work. For this Wind has been sent to blow through every institution that has been raised in My name. In those institutions that have substituted their name for Mine, they shall fall by the impact of My Wind. Those institutions shall fall like cardboard shacks in a gale. Ministries that have not walked in uprightness before Me shall be broken and fall.

"For this reason man will be tempted to brand this as a work of Satan, but do not be misled. This is My Wind. I cannot tolerate My church in its present form, nor will I tolerate it. Ministries and organizations will shake and fall in the face of the Wind, and even though some will seek to hide from that Wind, they shall not escape. It shall blow against your lives, and all around you will appear crumbling. And so it shall.

"But never forget this is MY Wind, saith the Lord. With tornado force it will come and appear to leave devastation, but the Word of the Lord comes and says, `Turn your face into the Wind and let it blow.' For only that which is not of Me shall be devastated. You must seek this as necessary.

"Be not dismayed. For after this, My Wind shall blow again. Have you not read how My Breath blew on the valley of dry bones? So it shall breathe on you. This Wind will come in equal force as the first Wind. This Wind too will have a name. It shall be called, `The Kingdom of God.'

"It shall bring My government and order. Along with that it shall bring My power. The supernatural shall come in that Wind. The world will laugh at you because of the devastation of the first Wind, but they will laugh no more. For this Wind will come with force and power that will produce the miraculous among My people and the fear of God shall fall on the nation.

"My people will be willing in the day of My power, saith the Lord. In My first Wind that is upon you now, I will blow out pride, lust, greed, competition and jealousy, and you will feel devastated. but haven't you read, `Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven'? So by My Spirit, My Kingdom will be established and made manifest.

"Know this also, there will be those who shall seek to hide from this present Wind and they will try to flow with the second Wind; but again, they will be blown away by it. Only those who have turned their faces into the present Wind shall be allowed to be propelled by the second Wind.

"You have longed for revival and a return of the miraculous and the supernatural. You and your generation shall see it, but it shall only come by My process, saith the Lord.

"The church of this nation cannot contain My power in its present form. but as it turns to the Wind of the Holiness of God, it shall be purged and changed to contain My glory. This is judgment that has begun in the house of God, but it is not the end. When the second Wind has come and brought in My harvest, then shall the end come." -- End quote.

This nation and the church has been under the judging hand of God for quite sometime, but it is very evident that the full reproach of it is now upon us. God has become serious about His name and is putting an end to the maligning of it. For the past three years, since the time of the above prophecy came, the blasting winds of God's fiery furnace has hit the church as we have never seen before. It started with the ones in the limelight: the Bakkers, Jimmie Swaggart, Oral Roberts, among others, and has now reached down to the very lowest esteemed Christian. If those who are called by His name, Christian, are living some other way, they will be found out about and exposed to those of their world (unless they soon repent). Our Holy God is beginning to require things of us. He is requiring a Holy walk. No more is He winking at sin, and the fire of His Holy breath will prove us. Before this is over, the whole world will know whether the temple we have spent our lifetime building is of wood, hay, stubble -- or if it is built of gold, silver, and precious stones.

It matters little, dear saints of God, whether the warning sounds of judgment are appreciated or not -- the fierce winds and rolling fire of the Lord will continue coming just the same. Let us therefore heed the call to open our eyes and look to our God for deliverance. Let us not be found wanting in this late hour, but be joined to Him with flaming trumpets in hand as the wind of the blasting furnace hits, for surely:

In that day God will come riding in His chariots, His holy messengers, and from the heaven of heavens He will send His voice out of the clouds of His people from on high; and He will be seen coming in the great army of His saints, 10,000's times 10,000's of Himself. (Ps. 68:17, 33-35, Jude 14). "In that day the LORD with His sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and He shall slay the dragon that is in the sea. And it shall come to pass in that day...ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the GREAT TRUMPET SHALL BE BLOWN, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem." "And the Lord shall be seen over them, and His arrow shall go forth as the lightning: and the LORD GOD SHALL BLOW THE TRUMPET....The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall devour and subdue with sling; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like bowls, and as the corners of the altar. And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of His people: for they shall be as the stones of a crown, lifted up as an ensign upon His land. For how great is His goodness, and how great is His beauty!" (Is. 27:1, 12-13, Zech. 9:14-17).

There are more than a few who believe things like this will transpire -- someday -- but not so many can even begin to imagine themselves ever being part of turning the world up-side down. Let not your frail inadequacies dissuade you, dear ones; but rather, remember and know that in Him it becomes simple, and it is in His hands to fulfill. Peter wrote that It is God who works both the will and the to do of His good pleasure (Phil. 2:13). Therefore, we can rest assured that David knew what he was talking about when he said: "Your people will offer themselves willingly in the day of Your power, in the beauty of holiness and in holy array out of the womb of the morning; to You will spring forth Your young men who are as the dew" (Ps. 110:3 Amplified Bible). And he also noted: "The Lord has sworn, and will not revoke or change it: You are a priest for ever after the manner and order of Melchizedek. The Lord at Your right hand will shatter kings in the day of His indignation. He will execute judgment [in overwhelming punishment] upon the nations; He will fill the valleys with the dead bodies; He will crush the chief heads over lands many and far extended. He will drink of the brook by the way; therefore will He lift up His head [triumphantly]" (Ps. 110:4-7).

Parts of this prophecy are ringing true today. Unparalleled things are taking place all over the world, which enables us to see that the cup of God's indignation is full and running over. The chief heads over many strong nations have been and are still being crushed. Closer to home we see huge corporations floundering and dying. Multibillionaires are going bankrupt, as well as untold thousands of small businesses every day; and this is not to speak of the other side of Babylon -- the church system (as it is governed by men). She is also staggering and stumbling in like manner. One would have to be willingly blind and ignorant to not see the season this world has come to, and those who do see will agree that there is little hope of things getting better until God's holy fire has run its course.

In the midst of this darkened world, God has been preparing a stone in His mountain, and when the hour comes He will send it forth to crush the feet that the powers of Babylon rest upon (politically and religiously). Yes indeed, a great stone comprised of many lively stones is in the making.

Using another analogy, we can see the process of this marvelous work: the stones, the saints, have been an offering in the temple of God -- they have willingly presented themselves a living sacrifice upon the burning altar of incense. As a result of this intense burning there has been a fusion, and they have been arrayed in the beauty of God's holiness -- Jesus Christ. When they begin to hear the sounding of the clear trumpets of fire, they will then come forth in great splendor. Out of the womb of the morning these faithful ones shall rise -- crossing the threshold from darkness to Light -- to judge the hidden things of the night. Yes indeed, it is apparent that the words of the above prophecies are in the process of being fulfilled, and most assuredly shall continue on until the full consummation of every jot and small tittle -- even if it takes 1000 years.

The sounding of the trumpets, the declaration of God's impending judgments, will be a Holy and terrible thing. It will send a rolling tidal wave of fire over the face of the entire earth, reaching its farthest extremities. On one hand it will be glorious, with the power and splendor of Christ unequaled in the History of mankind. While on the other hand, to those of the unprepared, lackadaisical, carnal church and the world alike, it will be "hell on earth" and with no "Rapture" in sight. The Lord's army that Joel spoke of will be a terror to every self-seeking man, woman, and spoiled child of the world. The word of God and His Holy messengers of fire (Heb. 1:7) will be setting everything ablaze. Wherever there is any wood (the spirit/nature of man -- "6"), hay (the creative, growing imaginative mind of man -- "6") or stubble (the product, the dead works of man -- "6") to be found, there will be a burning. The Word of God, whether spoken or in the form of His messengers, will kindle and torment any and all who have the mark of the beast ("666") engraved in their minds (Rev. 13:18, 14:1, 14:10-11).

To say the least, terrible days lie ahead for combustible men; even so, there is cause to rejoice. We do not find pleasure, of course, in seeing God's wrath poured out without mixture upon the carnal minded, self-willed people of the world. No this is not why we rejoice, it is for another reason. One of the anointed prophets of old (Isaiah) and the king of Israel (David) inscribed it many centuries ago. By inspiration they wrote: "Put them in fear O Lord: that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah" "For when Thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness." (Is. 26:9, Ps. 9:20). And another one, John the beloved, several centuries later joined in with this heavenly choir when he echoed these beautiful words of promise: "And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are Thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints. Who shall not fear Thee, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? for Thou only art Holy: for all nations shall come and worship before Thee; for thy judgments are made manifest." (Rev. 15:3-4).

God's judgments have fallen upon nations before, especially upon Israel, but repentance was always short lived. It was not long before they gravitated back to their former ways of sin, for their nature was never changed. Looking back on history would make us wonder if it will be any different this time. Without a doubt, it will be, for there was something lacking in God's judgments of those former days; namely, the Light and Life of Jesus Christ. God was the executioner of the law, and exacting to them whatever the prescribed punishment would be. Such judgment would certainly stop the rebellion, idol worship and wanton sin; but there was nothing present in those days that could change the hearts of the people -- the Holy Spirit had not been given. It was just a do or die situation. If they did what God commanded, they prospered, if not, they paid the price. Sincere as they might have been at times, the people were simply not born of the heavenlies, but out of the earth. Therefore, their nature was not toward the heavenly God. It was only natural for the perpetual weight of their carnal desires of earth to draw them away from God and back to the element from which they came -- the dust.

With the present and pending judgments, however, the missing ingredient is now before us -- the balancing, reconstituting factor of Jesus Christ -- man's mediator and birthing Seed from above. With this missing Feature added we can now see why God's judgments are marvellous and just and true as referred to in (Rev. 15:3-4). The judgments that come (from the sounding of the fiery trumpets, i.e. from pouring out the coals of fire from the incense altar), they are marvellous (doing a wonderful work), they are just (equitable, bringing a balance), and they are TRUE (JESUS is the TRUTH, the manifested REALITY OF GOD).

Many of God's judgments come first in the form of darkness and severe chastisement. They come after many dealings of the Spirit and admonishments from His Holy messengers. After one has had time and space to repent but never seems to get around to doing it, God's corrective words eventually change from, "Come and drink freely from the well of Life," to "It will not rain upon the earth until my word declares it." His words change from, "Seek ye the Lord and His righteousness while He may be found," to "You shall run from the danger of the lion, and a bear will meet you, you shall enter the safety of your house and shall lean your hand upon a wall of protection and a serpent shall bite you." And His words of unrestrained love change from, "Knock upon the doors of His Kingdom, and they shall be opened unto you," to "Be ye cast into outer darkness where there is weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth." Indeed, dear ones, this day of the Lord is of gross darkness (at first) and not Light -- of reaping in great proportions of what had been sown.

This overshadowing, tremendous darkness of judgment will seem to leave no hope for the inhabitants of the earth, then will follow the brilliant Light as they awaken to the dawn of Christ's Love. His ever-present, drawing Light is that balancing factor that makes this judgment marvellous -- so marvellous that we can sing with joy the song of Moses (Victory) and of the Lamb (Resurrection Life). Glory Hallelujah! Rejoice, dear ones of God, for your King is descending in brilliant glory! He is making Himself known to those who recognize the darkness, and with lifted eyes and hearts are praying for His warm presence. Yes indeed, He is coming to those who are worshiping the Living God in spirit and truth!

In this crucial hour, brethren, let us be encouraged to spend some time, some true, precious, quality time, before our Lord. For in doing so, we will not only have our minds renovated, renewed and will be transformed into His image, but we shall rise into the heavens and stand gloriously upon the earth. In this standing, it will be with the trumpets of fiery judgment to our lips; but afterwards, it shall change. Rather than pain and sorrow they will reverberate with restoration and healing. Judgment first and then healing. A cutting and then a mending. For God does not destroy anything without resolving the problem. This is what happens as we awaken to Christ's reality in the day of His power. We shall be willing in that day.

Let us take a moment to share a beautiful letter from a sister in northern California. Her life and experiences over the past few months is a graphic example of what is happening and what this series of studies have been about:

"God's great mercy never ceases to amaze me!! As I truly have been groping about in the darkness these last few weeks, He mercifully intervened tonight as I sat down to read Trumpets of Fire, Part II. The spark of His Light manifested once again into a great Light for this time and purpose in my life.

"Just three months ago I had entered into a particular battle in the Spirit, and was making offensive strides. I've been attacked in just about all the major areas of my life after that...which totally threw me off the path and left me lying in the dust, with dust in my eyes, and groping about in that darkness. The dust finally settled tonight and the Word of His Light (or the Light of His Word!) broke through to my squinting eyes! Hallelujah! I don't think I realized how hard I was hit till now -- all I knew was that my prayers had become reduced to the weakened cry of a sick lamb -- yet my Shepherd heard my cry and found me, and now I'm beginning to see through the settling dust and rising upon my weakened legs! How great Thou art, oh Loving Father!! "Thank you, my Brother and Sister, for your faithfulness and obedience to speak the Word of Life! It has been a while since you have heard from me, but I want you to know how God has ministered to me through you. Keep the fresh word coming!" -- End quote.

I cannot say what will stir the flaming fires within anyone's soul in particular, or what trial of darkness will cause true heart-rending cries to our Lord and Saviour, but the above letter is an example of what is hitting many in the body of Christ today. It truly appears that this is the season for God's protective hedge to be removed and judgment to begin in the house of God. Afterwards, this same judgment of fire shall then be ministered outwardly from His house (Greek, apo) to the rest of the world. (I Pt. 4:17).

Should you find yourselves in the trial of your life, with assurance, suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of your souls to Him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator (I Pt. 4:19). Also, be encouraged by what the one who knew about hard and grievous times wrote: "In His favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning..." (Ps. 30:5-12). If your origin of birth is from above and not from beneath, you will choose life when you are brought to the valley of decision, to your garden of Gethsemane. If you are a new creation, you will not go the way of the passions of the carnal mind and body for relief from the fire; but rather, you will remain there, and while calling upon the name of our Lord and Savior, our Deliverer, you will be brought to nothing, absolutely depleted, but then repleted and transformed!

It appears that the dawn of deliverance and change is upon us. The light of the morning will soon be breaking over the distant horizon to dispel the darkness that pervades men's minds. Yet before that hour comes there is always the morning star (which we are now seeing), that small orb of light in the heavens, heralding the soon coming Sun of Righteousness. The Son who sends His rays and brings the morning with healing in His wings (Mal. 4:2). Therefore, dear ones, if God has removed the hedge from around you, and you have been cast down and trodden under foot of man, of beast, and/or of spirit; then cry out to your Deliverer, lift your eyes to the heavens for the shining speck of Light. You will surely find it there in the star-studded heavens of your very being. When you see the One of promise, the One which brings the Light of the morning in your life -- then fix your weary hearts upon it and don't take your eyes off Him, for He is your King. Rejoice and give praise and honor to God for His shining promise of the coming Day. And soon, sooner, than you may realize, the blazing Sun of Righteousness will be standing before you (in you) in shining splendor and handing you a fiery trumpet to sound warnings, judgments and then deliverance across the land and around the world. As dark as the night may have been, remember this: nights do not last forever -- there is a time when the light of day must come forth.

Shout Hallelujah saints! This is something to rejoice about! For truly, the Father has set those who do His will, to persistently sound ever more clearly the call to reveille, until there is not one son left in the dark. They are those who the prophet Isaiah spoke of: "I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, who will never hold their peace day or night: you who [are His servants and by your prayers] put the Lord in remembrance, keep not silence, and give him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes it a praise in the earth" (Is. 62:2-7, Amplified). Praise His Holy Name!
