THE LAW OF BIOGENESIS

THE WORD

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God." "And God said, Let there be...." "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten SON, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him." [Jn 1:1-2, Gen 1:3, Jn 1:14, 18].

There appears to be a sad epitaph inscribed in the minds of most Christian believers today, and it is not unlike the infamous name of Ichabod that is etched ever so deeply over the doors of the present-day church. This message is a written testimony on a solemn tombstone that was once her gates of glory. It is a continual reminder of the demise of the one entombed within. The inscription reads, "THE WORD WAS ONCE ALIVE AND FLOURISHED IN US FOR A SEASON, BUT NOW IT IS DEAD; THEREFORE, WITH OUR LIFE GONE, WE TOO HAVE LAID DOWN AND DIED."

Some may disagree, but truthfully speaking, if it wasn't for the subterfuge of religious campaigns, drives, and promotions that are going on in this late hour, the church would have been buried long ago. This may not sound valid to some in view of all the preaching that is going on today; however, this is the reality. From what we see -- THE WORD IS DEAD TO MANY OF THEM and SO ARE THEY -- there is a real famine of hearing the WORD of the Lord [Amos 8:11]. You see, today's church is no different than those of 2000 years ago; people have largely worshiped their religion and the written word and have looked to them as their major source of "salvation". They have esteemed the letter as that holy word of God; but dear ones, the scriptures do nothing more than POINT to the reality of God, WHICH IS JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF! [Jn 5:39]. He is the Word that the ages were framed by [Heb 11:3], and He is the Word that is now at work framing the ages of our very being.

Let us examine this not so little word, W-O-R-D, of four letters and see what can be unearthed. We will not go into a lengthy word study but just look briefly at three definitions and proceed from there:

GRAMMA

Most everyone in the church today erringly calls the Bible, or individual scriptures from the Bible, THE WORD, even though there is not one place in the entire book that does the same. II Timothy 2:15 has commonly been quoted as saying that he scriptures are the word of God, but with a closer examination we can see it is not: "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the WORD of TRUTH." Notice: The word STUDY comes from the Greek word SPOUDAZO and means TO USE SPEED, TO MAKE EFFORT, BE PROMPT OR EARNEST. WORD is translated from LOGOS and speaks of the ESSENCE or SUBSTANCE of a speaker. And the Greek word for TRUTH is ALETHEIA and means TRUTH as it has been rendered. However, TRUTH is something more than just a "factual statement," it speaks of a REALITY. Therefore, from this observation, we can then read this verse thusly: "Use speed and make an asserted effort with an earnest heart to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, WALKING A STRAIGHT PATH IN THE ESSENCE OF REALITY."

No doubt, every original word that is contained between the Bible's covers was "given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness," as Paul had written in II Tim 3:16. However, as good as the WRITTEN WORD is, the written_word without the anointing and reality (the life and meat) of that word will kill. Paul said it very well in II Cor 3:6, "...the LETTER (gramma, Grk.; from where we get our Eng. word grammar) killeth, but the Spirit giveth life." The letter, not the word, he spoke of was the scriptures, i.e. the Bible, and it was this that Jesus referred to when he said, "You search and investigate and pore over the Scriptures diligently, because you suppose and trust that you have eternal life through them. And these [very Scriptures] testify about Me! And still you are not willing (but refuse) to come to Me, so that you might have life." [Jn 5:39-40. Amplified].

Therefore, since the scriptures alone, without a quickening by the Spirit of Christ, will not produce life, we will discard them as being the THE_WORD of God. And please take note, we are not discarding the scriptures but discarding them as being what is called THE_WORD that is spoken by the anointing and the Word that Jesus was.

RHEMA

RHEMA is the word that is used about half the time in the Greek New Testament for our English word WORD (the other half is LOGOS), and according to Strong's_Exhaustive_Concordance it means, "A thing spoken; a word or saying of any kind...(rhema refers to words in their OUTWARD FORM, as parts of speech)."

Romans 10:17 is a good example of what the RHEMA is and what one of its primary purposes is when spoken by the Spirit of God. "FAITH cometh by hearing, and hearing by the WORD (RHEMA) of God." When one hears the rhema/word by the anointing of God that is spoken, faith is then born. In the same chapter Paul said this about the WORD that genders faith: "The WORD (RHEMA) is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart; that is, the WORD (RHEMA) of FAITH, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." [Rom 8:8-9]. Hence, RHEMA is a word that doesn't necessarily have to be UNDERSTOOD -- ONLY BELIEVED -- and that believing comes when one hears by the anointing of the Spirit.

The faith that comes from hearing the word is wonderful indeed, we would be lost without it, but we should never remain in this place of believing only; for there comes a time when we must begin to acquire not only KNOWLEDGE and UNDERSTANDING of the WORD, but we must EXPERIENCE THE WORD -- this has to do with the LOGOS. For one to grow up into maturity, it is an absolute must to COMPREHEND and then WALK IN THAT WHICH God is SAYING to us.

LOGOS

The word for W-O-R-D in our introductory scriptures (Jn 1:1, 14, 18) come from the Greek word LOGOS, and has a similar meaning as RHEMA but carries much more weight. Note: "LOGOS; Something said (including the thought); reasoning (the mental faculty) or motive; by extension a computation; specially (with the article in John) the DIVINE EXPRESSION (i.e. Christ)." [Strong's Exh. Conc.]. To sum it up, THE MAN JESUS was the embodiment of all the above. He was the Word made flesh [Jn 1:14]. We also have Hebrews 1:3 which adds to the meaning of this WORD. "Who being the brightness of His glory, and THE EXPRESS IMAGE OF HIS PERSON...." The Greek has it this way, "... an EXACT IMPRESSION, COPY, AND CHARACTER OF HIS SUBSTANCE." Jesus was the REALITY OF GOD; an exact expression and the very substance of His Father. In other words, He was the "spittin' image" of His Father. HE WAS THE EMBODIMENT OF GOD'S THOUGHT, HIS VERY ESSENCE! He was THE BEGOTTEN SUBSTANCE OF GOD! Brethren, the ESSENCE and SUBSTANCE of God speaks of greater things than just some sublime, ethereal, quasi, wishy-washy do-gooder with not enough backbone to accomplish much of anything, as most of the world sees Him. But He was, and still is, the very embodiment of His Father, the ETERNAL GOD! THIS WORD, called JESUS, contains His very nature, His power, and His immutable authority to execute all of God's good pleasure. And HE CAME FORTH TO DO JUST THAT, TO FULFILL HIS PLEASURE!

RETURNING OF THE WORD

"So shall My WORD [JESUS] be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it (HE) shall not return void, but it [HE] shall accomplish that which I please, and it (HE) shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it (HIM)." (Parenthesis mine) [Is. 55:11].

There has never been a word that has proceeded from the mouth of God that has ever or ever will return to Him empty-handed. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but every jot and tittle of the law will accomplish what it has been sent to do [Mt 5:18]. Much more then, will THE WORD, THE ULTIMATE THOUGHT, INTENT, PURPOSE AND ESSENCE OF GOD -- JESUS CHRIST -- prosper in the thing He was sent to do!

We will notice that the primary thing He was sent to do, or rather, TO BE, was written by John. "And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be THE SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD." [I Jn. 4:14]. This Word was not sent as the Saviour of anything less than one hundred percent of the world, and certainly He was not sent to save only one percent of the world, as some authorities have estimated that will be saved. No, never in a million years! He was not sent to be a saviour of part of the world, but HE WAS SENT TO BE THE SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD -- THE WHOLE WORLD -- NOTHING LESS OR EVEN CLOSE TO IT, BUT THE ENTIRETY OF IT! And furthermore, He will not be satisfied until He has accomplished what He was sent to do! Period! If He returns void then He will have failed in His mission, and I for one don't mind declaring that Jesus never has nor ever will fail in one iota the Father called Him to do. Remember what He said? "I do always those things that please Him, [Jn 8:29], and in another place we have Paul telling us what pleases the Father. Who will have all men to be saved" and will "be testified in due time." [I Tim 2:4, 6]. And of course he also wrote, "Who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will" [Eph 1:11]. Simply speaking, the Father's pleasure is to have ALL OF HUMANITY SAVED, and Jesus is THE ONE HE HAS CHOSEN TO FILL THE BILL wherein ALL THE FULNESS OF CREATION WILL DWELL AND BE MADE ALIVE. [Col 1:19, I Cor 15:22, Eph 1:10].

ONE VIEW OF THE RETURNING WORD

From what some of us had once believed about only a small handful being saved and the rest lost to an eternity in hell, we could paint a very graphic picture of the ultimate return and "triumph" of Jesus over sin, death, hell, the grave. At the end of what has been commonly called time, we can see it now: -- God sitting upon an awesome throne in heaven somewhere with Jesus walking up to Him and a small band of exhausted, half beaten, and thoroughly weary-worn followers bringing up the rear. God says, "My Son, it is good to see you, what can I do for you today, and who are these with you who look like death warmed over?" "Well, Father," Jesus replies, "most of them are the ones who were saved before they died, but a few of them are those who were saved at the time of the rapture."

After a few moments of dead silence a very concerned and upset Father resounds, "What do mean, Son? Are you telling Me that this little motley crew is all you have to show for what I sent you after? Is this all you were able to come home with? I sent you to buy the world and everyone in it. Didn't you pay the price and die for all of them? What happened, anyway? Didn't I give you enough to purchase them? Didn't you pay the full and ultimate price, which was your very blood? What did you do, hold back and squander some of it on yourself, or something? You know, did you try and amass yourself a little kingdom and hold on to your life rather than pouring it all out so that all would be saved?"

"Of course not, Father," Jesus quickly responds, "I really did buy the field, you know, the whole world, as the parable goes. I gave up My life and poured out My own blood for them, but it's not My fault that I haven't prospered in what you had sent Me to do. You see, the preachers have had millions of altar calls, untold multitudes have been invited to come to Me so they wouldn't have to go to hell, but only one here and there ever really seem interested enough to say the sinner's prayer. Indeed, I've had a lot of time, almost 2000 years to save the world, but over half of that was swallowed up by the Dark-Ages, and there weren't anyone getting saved in those days. And even when religious freedom began to abound, especially in the 20th century, it was next to impossible to get any good missionaries to go to places like Africa, India, Tibet, Cambodia, etc. There were a lot who wanted to go to Florida and Hawaii during the winter and then up north for the summer, but for these other places, forget it. To top it off, with the god of materialism that had covered the whole world, America being one of the worst ever, it made it very difficult to get anyone interested enough in spiritual matters to get saved. And not only that, as you know yourself, it takes committed people and a lot of money to get the gospel out to the four corners of the globe, and there just wasn't that much left over with all the building programs going on, not to mention all the other expenses.

"I did have a plan, however," He continues, "and it was in the making and I believe it would have resulted in quite a few getting saved. I had moved upon some of the big name T.V. evangelists, some of those who could get the word out and the money rolling in, to start a world-wide crusade that would spread the good news to the whole world by the year 2000. What a working machine it was developing into. This plan would have left everyone without an excuse when the judgment came, that is, if they hadn't accepted Me as their Saviour. But right when the emotions were running high, and it looked like we would be able to get the money, you guessed it, the devil slipped in and some of My major money raisers were caught red-handed in every corruptible thing imaginable. Many of those who had always been faithful supports became a little 'gun shy,' and rightfully so, but no amount of crying, prying, begging or pleading could loosen people's grip on their pocket books. We couldn't get a dime for a song. Oh, there were a few faithful

"And not only that, Father, You brought the great tribulation right in on top of it all, which forced My hand in calling the rapture. I know how sick and tired you must have been of such worldwide sin and corruption, and no doubt, You couldn't take it any longer, I was getting pretty disgusted with it too, but if you could have waited just a little bit longer.

"Therefore, as circumstances have been, I don't see how you can really blame Me for returning to you void. Like I said, if You would have given me a little more time, and I could have mustered up a few more good men and a lot more money, I could have done a little better than what you see here today."

We can hear the thundering voice of God echoing throughout the heavens, "Son, what kind of laughing-stock have you made us? Turn yourself around right now and finish what I sent You to do, and don't begin to darken My door until you have brought every enemy under your feet, even the last one which I want destroyed -- death! Then you can deliver up a real kingdom to Me." Jesus responds, "Yes, Father, but how do I do this, now that the tribulation is in process, and the rapture is over and done with, and almost everyone is in hell? Knowing the temperature of that flaming pit, you don't expect Me to go down there, do You? I just can't see any way of helping them now, for it looks like it is eternally too late, etc. etc." -- End of fairy tale.

Of course, the above story will never find a place in the reality of God or His purpose, for not only do we know God to be infinitely greater than being involved in such a fiasco, but we also know Jesus has the mind of the Father and would never find Himself in such a dilemma. However, if we lay it to some serious thought, I believe we would have to agree, that with many of today's beliefs concerning salvation, judgment, the rapture, the great tribulation, hell, the above picture is not too far off base. Well, consider it, brethren! Is God's WORD, JESUS CHRIST, going to accomplish what He was sent to do, or will He fail and return void? If He fails, we would then have to entertain the above scenario, or something akin to it as being a possibility.

But we praise God! He has shed some light on these things, and we don't have to make excuses any more for the stupid things men have imagined God to be! The truth of the matter is, as we have already mentioned, the WORD that has gone forth out of God's mouth, WILL EMPHATICALLY ACCOMPLISH WHAT HE WAS SENT TO DO! He cannot fail any more than God can fail, because He is the very SUBSTANCE OF GOD! If either of them fall short in their purpose, then they have missed the mark that they were aiming for, and according to the Greek and Hebrew, the word for SIN in the Bible means to MISS THE MARK. And we can be reminded that God cannot sin -- HE CANNOT MISS THE MARK!

Jesus, the Word, was indeed sent to be the Saviour of the world; and knowing His Father as He did, no wonder He made so many bold statements. For example: "ALL that the Father giveth Me shall come to Me...And this is the Father's will which hath sent Me, that OF ALL WHICH HE HATH GIVEN ME I SHOULD LOSE NOTHING...." [Jn 6:37, Jn 6:39]. And of course, we are aware that -- "HE DIED FOR ALL..." and "The Father loveth the Son, and hath given ALL THINGS INTO HIS HAND." [II Cor 5:14 & Jn 3:35]. He also said, in so many words, if there is one lost sheep in the world, anywhere at any time, He would not cease from His mission of love until He has found it, and when it is found, He will with great rejoicing draw it unto Himself and give it life. [Lk 15:3-6]. Let us never forget, brethren, Love nor the Word that He is will ever fail [I Cor 13:8 & Is 55:11]. Some, of course, will be brought forth through severe judgment, but the end result will be correction unto life.

For some reason we formerly had the notion that it was man's decision to come to Jesus, and the only part our Lord had in it was already finished at Calvary. We had viewed men's lives as being totally free willed, saying, "Man is a FREE MORAL AGENT, and If he chooses to be saved he can be, but if he doesn't, then he wouldn't be." We had also believed, along with our woesome drum beaters of doom, that if he made the wrong decision, regardless of his subjected environment, eternal damnation would be his portion. However, in those times of darkness we never considered that MAN IS NEITHER FREE, NOR MORAL, and he is certainly NOT AN AGENT. Man is in bondage of sin and corruption unto death [Rom 8:21], he is carnal minded which is total enmity against God [Rom 8:6-8], and it is JESUS, not man, WHO IS THE AGENT. An agent is someone who stands between two parties and negotiates certain business arrangements, such as an insurance agent. In spiritual matters and when it comes to man's deliverance, man is incapable of being an agent to represent himself before God. It is JESUS who is the MEDIATOR between man and God! [I Tim 2:5].

There has never been the mind of a natural man who has desired the things of God. Oh, there have been untold thousands who have wanted to be a god, and many do think the universe revolves around them, but to be truly of God, and to have Him rule over them has been another matter. To possess His nature always means death to the carnal mind and the selfish desires of the man. Therefore, he, of his own free will, cannot and will not be saved unless it is according to his own self-styled ways. It is God who prompts him into making a true decision to bow before Jesus and confess Him as his Lord. You see, not only is this fact made clear in the written word [Jn 6:44, Jn 12:32, Eph 2:8, quoted below], there is a law in effect, and that law is called BIOGENESIS.

THE LAW OF BIOGENESIS

The law of biogenesis simply means: There is no life in existence that has not always been, and that which is dead cannot live unless the thing which is alive gives it life. Such as, when a living plant reaches forth to the dead minerals of the earth and draws them into itself. Once it is consumed of the living organism a biochemical, live-giving process takes place as the dead matter merges to become one with the living plant or any other HOST OF LIFE. The dead minerals cannot of themselves choose to live — the initiation must come from the thing that is already alive.

Jesus spoke of this law when He said, "No man can come to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me DRAW HIM." [Jn. 6:44]. It is God, ultimately the Father of all, Jesus being the first born of all creation [Phil. 2:1-11 & Col. 1:15] who entices, persuades, pulls, and even drags all into the life giving source. It is there that they will find life, rest, and deliverance from all sin, death, hell, and the grave; and it is Jesus Christ, the very essence and substance of God that this is accomplished. For He said, "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, WILL DRAW ALL MEN UNTO ME. This He said, signifying what death He should die." [Jn. 12:32-33]. We will also note another verse, "For by grace are ye save through faith; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES, IT IS A GIFT OF GOD." [Eph 2:8]. Thus, THE LAW OF  BIOGENESIS.

He is drawing ALL MEN INTO HIMSELF and is transforming their lives into His own glorious image. This drawing is no different than the living plant that draws the dead minerals into itself; and like the plant, before it could do this, it (the seed) had to die and come forth in a newness of life — transformed as a life giving plant. He is now that living plant whose roots will eventually find its way to the furthermost reaches of the earth and will fill the whole world with the riches of His fruit. PRAISE GOD!!!

This DRAWING of all men unto Himself, brethren, is not a weak invitation of yesteryear's tradition -- it is by the very essence and power of God, it is THE LOGOS -- THE WORD THAT WILL NOT RETURN VOID!

The word DRAW that is used in the previous mentioned verse [Jn. 12:32] has a much stronger meaning than a mere invitation. It comes from the Greek word ELKUO which means TO DRAG (literally or figuratively) and is akin to AIREOMAI which means TO TAKE FOR ONESELF. (Strong's Exh. Conc. 1670 & 138). This same Greek word is used in John 18:10 when "Simon Peter having a sword DREW it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear."

If this word drawing only carried the meaning of an invitation, can you imagine Peter standing before the throng that day who came for Jesus and "inviting" his sword into his hand? We can hear him now, "Please, sword, I invite you into my hand." The sword, of course, doesn't move an inch. He then with much more urgency cries out, "I implore you, I beg of you, for your own sake as well as all the others; come quickly before it is eternally too late. An angry mob is here to take our master. Come now, sword, this is your last chance to be something and to be part of saving our lord from great bodily harm!" But still, the sword sets dead in its resting place, completely oblivious to situation. Since the invitation failed to move it, and no amount of pleading produced any better results, his last resort would be threats. "If you don't come out of that sheath and into my hand, I'll melt you down to a puddle of formless nothing, but that's not all, I'll keep you in the fiery furnace of affliction forever...and ever ...and ever." And of course, such threats would have moved that sword about the same distance the threats of eternal hell have moved humanity toward God.

The sword would still be comfortably nestled in its sheath to this day, regardless of whether Peter had invited it, pleaded with it, or had threatened it with eternal torment, for it being dead and was incapable of moving on its own. It was not until he placed his hand firmly upon the sword and gave it a forceful jerk did the sword move. It was then that it was drawn (DRAGGED) from its resting place. What happened was, REALITY -- THE WORD, THE LOGOS -- THE EXPRESSION OF PETER'S THOUGHT AND INTENTION -- WAS MANIFESTED! THE WORD WITHIN HIMSELF BECAME FLESH AND ACCOMPLISHED WHAT IT WAS SENT TO DO! In like manner, as Peter had DRAGGED his sword and brought it into service, JESUS IS AND WILL BE PULLING ALL INTO HIMSELF WITH THE POWER OF HIS SPIRIT. When He was lifted up from the earth He bought us with His blood, mankind was reconciled by His death, but now they are being dragged into Himself and saved by His life. [Rom. 5:10].

This ONE LIFE FOR ALL MANKIND is referred to in the parable Jesus spoke of in Matthew 13:44, where He found a treasure (His elect) in the field (the world) but could not legally claim the treasure without owning the world they were buried in. Therefore, He laid down His life and bought it all. He paid the full price, so now the world belongs to Him, and it is now His responsibility. He is committed to it, and His directive is to make the world fit for the King that He is.

With this understanding of being bought and then delivered from bondage we can look at another analogy and see what is happening:

Let's say we decide to buy one hundred sheep and there is a man outside of town who has one hundred percent of what we want -- exactly one hundred sheep -- and one thousand dollars is the price for the one hundred sheep. We go to the pen where they are kept and make the necessary transactions to legalize the deal. The money is paid in full, the papers are signed that turns the sheep over to us. Now, all that is left for us to do is to take our sheep home. However, there seems to be a snag. It wasn't in the contract, not even in fine print, but the man who sold us the sheep commences to tell us something that's very disturbing.

He says, "The only way you can have them is if you stand outside the pen, with the gate closed, and invite them to come to you; for you see, to do anything other than paying for and calling to them would be infringing on their 'free will.' Not only that, you should be willing for the waters of all the seas of the world to dry up before you transgress against sheep's free will. If they want to go with you that's fine," he continues, "but they will have to do it of their own accord, and they must be the ones who decide what their future is to be, not you, even though you now own them. No one should ever be allowed to interfere with a sheep's freedom to choose what they want, whether it is good for them or not. To ultimately have your way about it would be like making robots out of them. If they want to rot in this filthy pen where I have starved them, rather than being brought into your liberty, then let them, for its their decision, not yours, and they will justly deserve it. Their blood won't be on your hands, for in letting them choose, their eternal destiny will be of their own making."

Without any hesitation, we would promptly tell the man, "Step aside you serpent. Your head is full of notions and all kinds of subtle, unreal and fanciful imaginations which are nothing more than a smoke screen of lies. The only ones who will believe such imaginative fabrications are those who lay asleep dreaming and can be influenced while in this realm of darkness. THE SHEEP ARE PAID FOR, I OWN THEM, THEY ARE NOW MY RESPONSIBILITY, AND I AM TAKING EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM HOME WITH ME, TO SEE TO IT THAT THEY GET THE PROPER CARE AND NOURISHMENT THEY NEED!" We then simply open the gate ("Thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemy and the gates of hell shall not prevail against My church [Gen. 22:17 & Mt. 16:18]), and we begin to draw, drive and drag every sheep, if they need dragging, that we have bought, out of their captivity and take them into our own captivity and dominion and nothing or nobody can stop us.

THIS, NOW BRETHREN, IS EXACTLY WHAT JESUS HAS BEEN DOING FOR 2000 YEARS AND HE IS STILL DOING IT! -- AND HE WILL CONTINUE TO DO IT, TO DRAG MEN THROUGHOUT THE AGES, UNTIL THERE REMAINS NOT ONE MAN LEFT BEHIND THE PRISON GATES OF HELL, NOR IN THE QUAGMIRE OF SIN, NOR IN ANY REALM OF DEATH! Yes indeed, "IF I BE LIFTED UP FROM THE EARTH, I WILL DRAG ALL MEN UNTO ME!" What a glorious returning of the Word!
