JUDGMENT RESTS FOR A LIGHT

“For a law shall proceed from Me, and I will make My judgment to rest for a light of the people.” (Isa. 51:4)

Rest – from the Hebrew “raga” meaning: to cause to rest, give quietness. Three times the word “raga” is translated as “divide,” such as “He divideth the sea when the waves roar…” What causes a wave to roar? When the action of the atmosphere, the strong winds blow, mixing with the waves of the sea, it causes a roar, billowing high and falling again against the seashore. When God moves in and DIVIDES, separating the wind from the water, the sea is quieted, at rest.

Babylon bespeaks of confusion, it is the MIXING OF SELF into the truth, and it has brought turmoil and unrest everywhere. Self-will and the will of God do not mix well, so again we have had the sea and waves roaring. Judgment will bring a division, separating the light from the darkness, the good from the evil, order from chaos, His will from our will, until DIVINE ORDER has been established, and we learn to move in harmony with His will and purpose.

Mankind has often been likened unto the sea – “the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.” (Isa. 57:20). While the “prince of the power of the air,” (Eph. 2:2) has moved upon these waters, stirred them up into a frenzy, seething, rolling, filled with unrest, driven and tossed. Corrections will be made. God will divide, give quietness, causing these negative forces to cease their action upon the people. Judgment reaches unto all levels, from the heavens to the lowest hell, until the whole shall be dealt with, brought into the light.

By what standard shall this be accomplished? By the pure law of the Lord. With His utterance comes the corrective judgments which will divide, bring quietness, and rest for a light of the people. “The Lord is known by the judgment which He executeth.” (Ps. 9:16). “Thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.” (Hosea 6:5). He shall bring peace to all men!
