MARCH 4

ELECTION OF PLACE

“”Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure.” (II Peter 1:10)

“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto the obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ,” (I Peter 1:2). While our election is certainly in harmony with the foreknowledge of God, it is carried out through, by the means of, IN, WITH AND BY the sanctification of the Holy Spirit. This tremendous separation process, setting us apart from all that bespeaks of this world, unto the obedience of the truth. Full well He knows the place for which we have been apprehended, and of the processings, which are necessary for us to pass through, that we might qualify for that position. One does not sanctify themselves from the world, but HE works in us that inner sanctification so that while we are in the world, we are no more of the world. “Our life is hid with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3).

There is a covenant which God hath made with Abraham which shall be fulfilled, though for a time his race have not walked worthy of that calling. But grace comes into action, and the inworking of the Spirit takes over in a remnant, so that it becomes HIS LIFE in them which qualifies for the fulfillment of the promise. Having received this call, and this grace, we do well to give diligence thereto. While He has “gone to prepare a place for you”, (John 14:2), He also has sent His Spirit to abide within to prepare us for that place. Thus, He is both the Author and the Finisher of our faith.

With the preparation of such a chosen company, we read on, “Who shall lay anything to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth,” (Rom. 8:33.) Because we are totally HIS WORKMANSHIP, one cannot condemn what God has done, or is doing. Thus He delivers us from all condemnation. It is the marvelous work of God, bringing forth a people who are without spot or blemish, “to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy”, (Jude 24). Yes, He is greatly to be praised!
