STAND FAST
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be
not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
(Galatians 5:1)
Liberty is the sphere, in which we are to stand, and the freedom of the Spirit
is our strength of defense, we must maintain it at all costs. Only as we are
fully cleansed within from all Babylonish ways, can we stand strong in our
liberty, and not be entangled again with that yoke of bondage to man’s tradition
and religious institution which would usurp the headship of our Lord Jesus
Christ in our life.
“Stand fast in one spirit,” (Phil. 1:27). “He that is joined to the Lord is one
spirit,” (I Corinthians 6:17). If we join our spirit to the spirit of the world,
or to a spirit of bitterness, a spirit of jealousy, etc. all this spells our
defeat if not soon corrected. We are to be joined to HIM, and in that “one
spirit” we will also know oneness with those “of like precious faith,” (II Peter
1:1).
“So stand fast in the Lord,” (Philippians 4:1). His Lordship is a vital
necessity. Our submission is to Him in all things, and we rest in the fact that
He is in control of all that touches our life. We give no place to the devil, we
give no place to evil, we give no place to the injustices that would usurp rule
over us – we give place only to Christ, that He might fulfill His will in us day
by day, step by step.
“Watch ye, stand fast in the faith,”(I Corinthians 16:13). Identified as ‘THE
faith”, it is not just ‘any faith’! Nor is it only the ‘faith of our fathers’ if
their faith was built on tradition and creed of man. Jesus said, “have the faith
of God,” (Mark 11:2). God-placed faith, not a borrowed revelation, but that
personal quickening which He imparts, that we might “know in Whom we have
believed”.
“Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will shew
you today…the Lord shall fight for you. And ye shall hold your peace,” (Exodus
14:13-14). Such is the victory of those who stand in Him.
