WE ARE PREDESTINATED

“Being predestinated according to the purpose of Him who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will: that we should be to the praise of His glory.” (Ephesians 1:11-12)

Predestinated, Literally, TO MARK OUT BEFOREHAND. As it was with His Son, Jesus Christ, so also with us. According to the glorious foreknowledge of God, in harmony with His plan of the ages, He has chosen us, marked us out, and fitted us into His workings so that ultimately we would be to the praise of His glory. How beautifully the Psalmist expressed this: “Wonderful are Your works, and that my inner self knows right well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was being formed in secret and intricately and curiously wrought in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days of my life were written, before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them. How precious and weighty also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them,” (Psalm 139:14-17, Amp.)

Yes, the counsel of His will is being wrought in His people, into their becoming His praise. We may look at ourselves on one of those mornings when we seem to feel so negative, and expressing some of that carnal nature that has not yet been purged out, and we think, “not much there to His praise today”. But the end is not yet! When He has finished His inworkings. He will present us “faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,” (Jude 24).

Since God has redeemed, purchased us to Himself, it obviously has been with a purpose. Therefore He has appointed all the processings necessary to gain that desired result. It is no happenstance, no accident that these things come our way – “Having predestinated us unto the adoption (placing) as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,” (Eph. 1:5). He will do whatever is necessary to bring it to fulfillment. He has marked out by His infinite grace a people that will His glory share.
