A LEAVENED FIRSTFRUITS

“Two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the Lord.”
Leviticus 23:17

“Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened – of sincerity and truth.”
I Corinthians 5:7-8

There are three dimensions of realms set before us, the old leaven, the unleavened, and the new leaven.

Two types of leaven, Paul states, need to be purged out, that which is called “the leaven of malice and wickedness”, which I am sure is readily understood, and then that which is called “the old leaven”. When evil works in a man, it releases its influence until the whole becomes defiled. It must be purged out, and the most effective way of stopping the action of leaven is BY FIRE. God uses fiery trials, from the mildest to the most severe forms, with a divine purpose, remedial in their action, and we do learn to thank God for them. Of the “old leaven”, in Matthew 16:6, 12, Jesus referred to the “doctrine of the Pharisees, and of the Sadducees” as a leaven, of which they needed to take heed and beware. We need to be purged of all the worn out traditions of yesteryear that we might be prepared for the new message, which is before us.

When all the old is purged out, we are found to be “unleavened”, to keep the Passover feast, identified in all of its workings, and we eat the “unleavened bread of affliction”, (Deuteronomy 16:3), and are identified with Him whom we did “esteem stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted”, (Isaiah 53:4). Then follows – “the kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened”. A new leaven – the kingdom of heaven to permeate the whole, until we become a firstruits of the new order for the new age.
