A CONSUMPTION DECREED

“Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.” Isaiah 28:22

Consumption – from the Hebrew word “kalah” means a COMPLETION. There is a growing consciousness and confidence in the sovereignty of God, and in the immutability of His purpose. “Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand, (Isaiah. 14:24). He is both the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the Ending, working out all things after the counsel of His own will. Now, as this age rapidly draws to its close, we shall see the completion of what He has purposed to be wrought during this time. There are some glorious “appointed times” and “fullness of times” in God’s divine schedule. When those times arrive at their zero hour, nothing can withstand the fulfillment of His plan, nor hinder the working of His purpose.

“The consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness. For the Lord of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.” Isaiah 10:22-23

“For He will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.” Romans 9:28

In view of the certainty of the decree we are admonished, “now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong.” The wise man wrote, “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil,” Eccl. 8:11. And when it seems that “the vision tarries”, many will begin to mock and scoff at the vision and work God said He would do. “Blessed is the man that sitteth not in the seat of the scornful,” Psalm 1:1. Heaven and earth today are filled with the activity of God’s appointments, for HIS KINGDOM SHALL COME, and the completion of His plan shall OVERFLOW WITH RIGHTEOUSNESS. “Look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh, Luke 21:28.
