SHEILA’S [J-A-T] TIDBITS   No.19      (July 12th. 2015)

I AM REMINDED of a book that we read in the early days of our marriage.  It was “Your God is too smallby J.B. Phillips.  It made a deep impression on our lives and from time to time through the years we would remember, especially the title.  We aren’t able to tell you exactly what Phillips said but the title was enough to bring back the question Is our viewpoint of  God too small”?  A child is very much influenced by his parents. What he is taught in the early days of his life can certainly continue to influence him in latter years as he matures.  So it is with “Mother-Church’s impact”.  We are surely influenced by the spiritual understanding we are brought up with.   I am very thankful for the foundational teaching I received as a child but as I grew in the natural, I was also growing spiritually and learning to seek the truth for myself.

(Isaiah 28:20)  For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it:

So  we need  to learn to ask ourselves   Is my God too small?  Is the bed too Short?  Am I ‘boxed-in’ by teachings that have limited my understanding and growth?

Thank You Father for everything You have brought across our paths -- always at the right time, to enlarge our horizons, revealing more of Your loving care of each one of us.

  Blessings and Love        Sheila
