Just-A-Thought No. 475        (August 20th. 2015)

(Song of Solomon 2:14)  O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, let me see thy countenance, let me hear thy voice; for sweet is thy voice, and thy countenance is comely. (15)  Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.

A parable: The great fire of London in 1666 destroyed much of that great city. It also destroyed the bubonic plague that had taken the lives of 15% of London’s population. A monument, a 202 ft. tower which had a spiral staircase of 311 stone steps within it, was constructed on the spot 202 ft. from where this fire started in a bakery. Originally the only light came in through slots between a few stones at strategic places. I have climbed those steps and the only scary time is when one has to pass someone going down. The secret of these stairs is don’t turn back” ++ “keep your eyes on the goal”  for the rewarding view is great. The Kingdom of Heaven is best seen and experienced from the top.

Remember your starting point is in the cleft of the Rock Christ-Jesus commemorating your escape from the destruction of the sin plague. Father calls us from the top … come up higher. He says “let Me hear your voice praising and praying (out loud, of course!). On the climb you will have certain dealings that will expose the enemy’s ‘foxy’ efforts to get you to quit … a worn step, a wobbly handrail, not enough light … but ... we press toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. When you have discovered the extent of your high calling, mark it and then press towards that mark. I love the old hymn, Christ of the upward way, my Guide Divine, Where Thou hast placed your foot will I place mine’……… The admission fee is paid, so, are you coming up? By the way ... on the ascent each will be challenged to remove all the damage the 'little foxes' have done such as old habits and some 'old' beliefs. Your journey will be safe with many  'grape' blessings.
