It doesn't rain much at all in southern New Mexico.  For instance, from November until the latter part of June (seven months) we had less than one inch of precipitation; but June 22, 2006 made up for the loss in the south eastern part of town with 4 inches falling in 40 minutes, which is almost half of our average yearly rainfall.
